ElevenLabs hiring 141 roles in Europe: Portugal is on the list

The $11 billion voice AI company is expanding fast across the EU. Unlike most, they will hire you from Portugal. Here is what that actually means.

ElevenLabs hiring 141 roles in Europe: Portugal is on the list

I have been using ElevenLabs voices for months. Last week I wired their API into my own stack to generate audio content. Then I did what I always do: I looked up whether you could actually work for them from Portugal.

The answer is yes. But the details matter more than the headline.

Who ElevenLabs is right now

ElevenLabs was founded in 2022 by two Polish engineers, Mati Staniszewski and Piotr Dabkowski. In February 2026, Sequoia led a $500 million Series D that valued the company at $11 billion. That is more than three times their valuation from twelve months earlier.

Their ARR crossed $330 million at the end of 2025. The companies using their infrastructure include Deutsche Telekom, Revolut, Meta, Epic Games, Salesforce, and the Ukrainian Government. The founders have publicly stated they are building toward an IPO.

They are not a startup in the traditional sense anymore. They are a scaling enterprise business with a voice AI platform at the centre.

What they are hiring for in Europe

There are 141 open roles globally. The EU breakdown is not what you might expect from an AI lab.

Engineering and Product has 54 open positions. Revenue, which covers sales, account management, and customer success, also has 53. Growth adds 17 more. Operations rounds it out with 16.

Key point.

ElevenLabs is not primarily hiring engineers in Europe. They are hiring salespeople, customer success managers, and general managers to run country-level operations.

The go-to-market push is real. There are General Manager roles for Belgium, Germany, and the Netherlands. Account Executives for DACH and UK/I. Customer Success covering Central Eastern Europe, Scale Western Europe, and Strategic Western Europe. Sales Development for the Nordics, Southern Europe, and UK/I.

If you are a sales or CS professional with enterprise software experience, this is one of the better EU hiring opportunities in AI right now. The product sells itself. The company has proof of scale. The equity is real at an $11 billion valuation with revenue growing.

The Portugal question

Portugal appears as an eligible location for 16 roles. That includes full-time positions: Automations Engineer, Full-Stack Engineer, AI Creative Producer, and Systems Analyst. It also includes freelance work in dubbing, transcription, subtitling, and translation.

This is not common. GitLab, fully remote since 2011, cannot hire in Portugal because Portugal is not on their entity or PEO list. Mistral AI, despite calling itself EU-first, has no Portugal entity and requires an EOR negotiation. ElevenLabs lists Portugal explicitly.

The reason matters. ElevenLabs does not have a direct legal entity in Portugal. What they have is an Employer of Record arrangement, which means a third-party company employs you locally on their behalf. You get a Portuguese contract, pay Portuguese taxes, and receive Portuguese employment protections. ElevenLabs manages you day to day.

This is a meaningful difference from a direct hire, and worth understanding before you apply.

What EOR means for you in Portugal

An Employer of Record arrangement is legal and common. Revolut, Stripe, and many remote-first companies use EOR to hire in countries where they have no entity. There are a few practical implications.

Your contract will be with the EOR provider, not with ElevenLabs directly. Benefits and terms are shaped partly by the EOR provider's standard offering. If ElevenLabs changes their EOR provider, your employment technically transfers. Equity grants and vesting schedules may be structured differently from employees in direct-entity countries.

Ask about this upfront. Which EOR provider do they use in Portugal? What is the equity structure for EOR employees? Is the gross salary quoted inclusive or exclusive of employer-side social security contributions?

The answers are not dealbreakers but they are negotiating inputs.

If you need to negotiate your own EOR setup or your company needs help hiring you in Portugal, Deel and Oyster both handle the entity gap. Same job, same salary, Portuguese contract.

D8 visa eligibility

The D8 digital nomad visa requires a minimum gross monthly income of approximately 3,480 euros. Every full-time engineering and GTM role at ElevenLabs clears that threshold based on comparable market data for similar roles in London and Warsaw.

ElevenLabs does not publish salary ranges. Their entire Ashby job board API returns null for all compensation fields. Every single posting has the pay transparency flag set to false. This is their current policy across all regions.

That will change. The EU Pay Transparency Directive requires companies to disclose salary ranges in job postings by 2026. ElevenLabs will need to comply for EU-based roles. Until then, you go into the process without a number.

The practical approach: research the market rate for the role in the country you are applying from, anchor to that in the first recruiter conversation, and do not wait until round four to ask.

Visa sponsorship

ElevenLabs has confirmed they sponsor visas. This has been stated explicitly for their internship programs and is consistent with their remote-first expansion across 30-plus countries. For specific visa types in specific countries, verify directly with the recruiter in the first call. Do not assume sponsorship for a role just because the policy exists.

EU offices and where they actually want you

Confirmed EU offices from the Series D announcement: London, Warsaw, Dublin, Berlin, Paris. Many job descriptions note a preference for candidates who can work from one of these locations, though the role is listed as remote.

If you are applying from Portugal, expect that question. Some roles will be genuinely location-agnostic. Others, particularly GTM roles requiring on-site client meetings or hybrid office presence, will have a clear preference for London, Warsaw, or Dublin. Read the job description carefully before applying.

All open roles are listed at jobs.ashbyhq.com/elevenlabs. Filter by department and location before applying.

Common traps

Assuming "remote" means location-agnostic. ElevenLabs lists location preferences on most roles. Portugal appearing in the eligibility list means they can hire you there. It does not mean every role welcomes a Lisbon-based applicant equally.

Not asking about the EOR structure. The compensation and equity terms for EOR employees can differ from direct employees. Get the specifics before accepting an offer.

Waiting for salary clarity before applying. It will not come from the job posting. Ask in the recruiter screen. If they refuse to give a range at any point in the process, that is a signal worth weighing.

Applying to GTM roles without enterprise software experience. ElevenLabs is selling to Deutsche Telekom and Revolut. Their Account Executive and Customer Success roles are not entry-level. They expect candidates who have sold or managed accounts at that size before.

Treating freelance roles as a route to full-time employment. The dubbing and transcription freelance roles are content operations work, not a stepping stone to a product or engineering career there.

Bottom line

ElevenLabs is one of the few $10 billion-plus AI companies that will hire you in Portugal today. The product is proven, the revenue is real, and the equity upside is not speculative at a $330 million ARR trajectory heading toward IPO.

Apply if you are an engineer or GTM professional comfortable with an EOR employment structure and negotiating compensation without a posted range. The product reaches hundreds of millions of users. The equity is real.

Wait if you need salary transparency before entering a process, or if you want a Portuguese entity on your contract rather than an EOR arrangement.

FAQ

Can I work for ElevenLabs from Portugal?

Yes. Portugal is listed as an eligible location for 16 roles, including full-time engineering and operational positions. Employment would be via an Employer of Record model, not a direct ElevenLabs entity in Portugal.

Does ElevenLabs sponsor visas?

Yes, visa sponsorship has been confirmed. Verify the specific visa type and country eligibility with the recruiter in the first conversation.

Why is there no salary information on their job postings?

ElevenLabs has disabled salary disclosure across all postings globally. The EU Pay Transparency Directive will require them to change this for EU roles. Until then, ask directly in the recruiter screen and anchor to market rate for the role and location.

What is the interview process like?

ElevenLabs runs a structured multi-round process. Engineering roles include technical assessments and typically async components. Timeline and round count vary by role. Glassdoor candidate reports suggest a thorough but fast-moving process compared to larger companies.

Are the Portugal roles genuinely remote or hybrid?

The majority of roles are listed as remote, but many descriptions note a preference for proximity to a hub office. Engineering roles tend to be more location-flexible. GTM and leadership roles often prefer London, Warsaw, or Dublin. Read each job description for the explicit preference before applying.
